Rock Maple makes the finest Pilates equipment

We use Rock Maple because it produces equipment of extraordinary strength and durability. Rock Maple has a tighter, denser, and more consistent grain than soft maple or oak. As a result, it has greater resistance to expansion and contraction from changes in temperature and humidity.

That means the joints remain strong, and the frame remains straight and true. Balanced Body uses Rock Maple as standard, and it's one of the reasons our Pilates equipment lasts practically forever.

Classic design - sleek and beautiful

One of the first things you'll notice about Balanced Body Pilates equipment is how beautiful it is. Every edge is sculpted and smooth – there are no sharp corners. It's appealing to the eye and inviting to the touch.

Smooth, quiet and stable Reformer carriages

Balanced Body carriages are designed for maximum stability with minimum friction. They roll smoothly and silently without rubbing or hesitating. Our custom-built, extra-wide vertical wheels feature Abec 3 ball bearings for smooth movement. Studio Reformers, Clinical Reformers and Allegro Reformers feature sidewheels with Abec 3 bearings to stabilize the carriage laterally. Carriages are lightweight, yet strong and stable. The user is in control, not the machine.

Blind dowel construction creates ultra-strong joints

All wood Reformers are built with blind dowels, a highly precise method of corner joinery that provides maximum contact area between the dowels and frame, creating a very strong corner joint. Blind dowels are completely concealed within the frame, giving the equipment a clean, refined look.

Durable catalyzed conversion lacquer

Our equipment is sanded by hand, then finished with a top-grade catalyzed conversion lacquer. Used by hospital furniture manufacturers for its superior hygienic qualities, our extra-tough finish resists abrasion, cleaning agents, bacteria and perspiration. Smooth and lustrous, it brings out the beauty of the wood grain.

Nickel-plated, carbon steel springs for safety and durability

High-quality springs are extremely important for safety. We use nickel-plated, carbon steel springs - the finest available for strength, resilience and durability. Unlike chrome plating, nickel plating minimizes hydrogen embrittlement of the steel. Custom-made to our specifications, our springs feature color-coded hooks that swivel freely on Nylatron® cones inside the springs, which reduces stress on the springs and helps them last longer. The result: very safe springs that provide superior performance under strenuous use. Reformer springs are covered by a two-year warranty.

Heavy-duty upholstery

We upholster our equipment with heavy-gauge Boltaflex® Colorguard vinyl. Boltaflex wipes clean with common cleaning agents and provides superior resistance to scuffing, perspiration, bacteria and stains. Standard colors are black, snow white, white, cadet (dark gray) and light gray. Or, choose from a palette of 88 custom colors.
