2// From the Studio 3 Tales of Space Saving Success - By Kerry OBrien, Morgan Perry, & Megwyn White Limited space used to be one of the biggest hurdles for fledgling studio owners or those a limited budget. But things have changed quite a bit. Here is what 3 of our customers did to creatively build robust and successful programs in a small space. “It was a challenge designing a working studio in a 165 sq ft. garage! How did those giant cars of 1943 ever fit? My main design priority was to make it feel uncluttered. A window and full light door provide natural light and a view of the garden. I chose sage green wall colors to create a continuum with the patio/garden area, providing a soothing visual background while leaving the studio itself uncluttered. Programming ForumProps & Pilates - By Wahida Sharman Using props can add a different dimension to Pilates. Props can be used on the mat or and in conjunction with any apparatus. However, because it is one of many services, there is the risk that the value and benefits of this awesome method of exercise may not be appropriately communicated to members and guests. Too often, Pilates offerings are hidden in the plethora of classes listed on the group exercise schedule, or, are listed as simply an alternative to traditional and conventional personal training. Pilates must be represented as an invaluable entity rather than a subset of services that are standard or perceived as popular. In order to create and sustain a successful Pilates program in the health club, the following are essential elements of the clubs marketing efforts to promote Pilates.
