Balanced Body brings Midtown Art to South Watt
Global Pilates company commissions mural for Headquarters
Sacramento, Calif., April 17, 2017
Balanced Body, the locally-owned global Pilates and training company, will soon unveil a new mural to christen its headquarters in the Florin Fruitridge Industrial Park near South Watt Avenue. The company acquired the building on 88th Street, and hopes to bring a new sense of community, vibrancy and creativity to the area.
In November 2016, Balanced Body hired Tre Borden / Co. to oversee the installation of a mural on the facade of the headquarters building. The 100,000 sq. ft. building houses the corporate headquarters, its showroom and training center, and its on-site manufacturing and fulfillment departments. Almost all of its 150 employees pass through its front doors each day, not to mention Pilates and other fitness instructors from around the world who come to the building for instructor training and continuing education.
“I wanted to send a message that says something a little different is happening here,” says Ken Endelman, founder of the 41-year old family-owned company, “by visually representing the positive impacts on health and wellness that the principles of Pilates and mindful movement can have”. Following a local artist call Endelman selected L/C Studio Tutto, comprised of Sofia Lacin and Hennessy Cristophel, to complete the 14,000 sq. ft. mural titled Motion and Form. The pair’s last local project, Bright Underbelly, is one of the largest murals in the region and they were eager to work on what would be another large-scale transformative mural.
Work began on the mural in March 2017 and was completed last week after several rain delays.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in mid-May to christen the project and highlight an example of business owners outside the grid who are embracing Sacramento’s public art movement. Invitations will be released soon. Media interested in attending can now register by emailing email@example.com
