Top industry educators present latest Pilates programs in new continuing-education series

Sacramento, Calif. - July 21, 2004

Balanced Body®, the world's largest manufacturer of Pilates equipment, introduces Pilates on Tour, a new series of weekend workshops offering the latest in Pilates instruction from nationally recognized teachers. The first tour debuts this weekend (July 24 and 25) in San Francisco at the Radisson Miyako Hotel.

During the classes, participants will receive in-depth instruction from three to five instructors on various areas of Pilates and hands-on experience using Balanced Body equipment. The tour features two primary tracks of programming. The first track, “Enhancing Basic Skills,” is designed for beginning instructors and focuses on mat and apparatus repertoire, movement principles, and other fundamentals. The second track, “Advanced Studies,” is designed for experienced instructors and concentrates on specialized instruction for high-level athletes, seniors, dancers and specific injuries or illnesses. The class also studies technical assessments, anatomy, kinesiology and biomechanics.

The two remaining 2004 workshops will be held in New York at the Hotel New Yorker on September 18 and 19, and in Newport Beach, Calif. at the Hyatt Newporter on November 20 and 21. All attendees will receive a subscription to Pilates Style magazine.

“Pilates on Tour is the first continuing-education event that actually travels to different cities,” said Ken Endelman, Balanced Body's founder and chief executive officer. “We created the tour to expand on existing educational opportunities for Pilates instructors and preserve industry standards as they continue to evolve.”

The tour was designed for smaller, more intimate settings than commonly found at large conventions. Typical attendance will range from 100 to 300 people. Balanced Body University®, a new educational forum established by Balanced Body, produces Pilates on Tour.

“We're pleased to take Balanced Body's vast network of educators and equipment on the road to various locations,” said Nora St. John, program director. “Pilates on Tour is designed to foster growth, dialogue, and relationships within the Pilates community.”
