New Pilates Springboard™ offers mind-body workout at an affordable price:

Wall-based resistance equipment saves space and is ideal for home use, Pilates studios and fitness facilities

Sacramento, Calif. - March 1, 2005

Balanced Body®, the world's largest manufacturer of Pilates equipment, has introduced the Pilates Springboard™, a versatile piece of resistance training equipment based on the design of master instructor Ellie Herman. Priced at an affordable $395, the springboard bolts directly to the wall, freeing up floor space and making it ideal for home use, studios, and fitness facilities.

“It gives you the ability to have resistance Pilates training at a fraction of the cost it would take to buy similar equipment like a Wall Unit or a Cadillac,” said Herman. “It also provides more standing and jumping exercises than with the Cadillac because you're on the floor and not up on a table. Right now there are a hundred different exercises you can do with the Springboard.”

The Springboard consists of a five-foot rectangular wooden board with eyelets placed on either side at six-inch increments, and a dowel at the bottom that provides arm and foot support. It comes equipped with two arm springs, two leg springs and a wooden roll-down bar.

“Pilates continues to enjoy widespread popularity in the United States,” said Ken Endelman, Balanced Body's founder and chief executive officer. “The Springboard gives enthusiasts an inexpensive way to bring equipment-based Pilates into their homes. It is also a boon for studios and clubs, because they can mount multiple springboards along walls for group sessions without taking up additional floor or storage space.”

The Pilates Springboard™ includes Herman's instructional video with a 40-minute workout focusing on core strengthening and upper and lower body conditioning. The workout includes exercises from both the classic Pilates repertoire and originals that Herman created specifically for the apparatus.
