Balanced Body® Signs Olympian Natalie Coughlin as Pilates Arc Spokesperson

Swimming gold medalist finds true value in this 3-in-1 exercise tool

Sacramento, Calif. - October 15 2009

Balanced Body®, the world’s largest Pilates company, announces today that Natalie Coughlin, Olympic swimmer and gold medalist, as well as Dancing With the Stars celebrity, is the official spokesperson for Balanced Body’s Pilates Arc™, a versatile, lightweight, low-cost Step Barrel. It acts as a classic Spine Corrector, an Exercise Arc with versatility, and a Wedge to use on a reformer, providing back support and stability.

“Natalie Coughlin is an incredible athlete and a great fitness role model, so of course we’re so pleased that she regularly uses our Pilates Arc,” said Ken Endelman, founder and chief executive officer for Balanced Body. “When we found out Natalie enjoyed the Pilates Arc, and was getting great results, we were ecstatic. It really speaks volumes about the practice of Pilates and our equipment when an Olympian includes both into her workouts to be the best competitor she can be.”

The integration of Pilates into professional and amateur athletes’ workouts is more commonplace as they realize the many benefits to the exercise system. Pilates is one of the best forms of conditioning in which a top-tier athlete can participate. The Pilates Arc enhances any workout as it provides several options to strengthen and stretch a variety of muscle groups. From Olympians to Pilates newbies, anyone can add the Pilates Arc to their routine to increase their results and challenge their body.

“I’m totally thrilled about Balanced Body’s new Pilates Arc,” said Coughlin. “Because it’s so versatile, I can perform many different exercises to get a full-body workout, but I can also target specific muscle groups like my shoulders, core and quads and hamstrings. With the strength and flexibility I get from using the Arc, I’m able to keep my competitive edge in the pool.”
