Get To Know Balanced Body

Ever wonder who that person is on the other end of the line when you call our 800 number? Did you know that our upholstery is hand-sewn… but whose hand? Well, here’s your chance to find out!

Chris Savarino

Position:
Lead / Senior Mechanical Engineer

How long have you been at BB:
Almost 2 years!

Why do you like about your job:
Two things. First, I enjoy the challenge of designing products for customers who are so diverse and creative. I quickly realized that nothing in Pilates is used in only one way. Almost every part of most equipment gets used by feet, hands, or knees, and probably in completely different ways depending on the instructor! This is definitely a challenge to an engineer / designer but it makes it that much more satisfying when a product is a success. Second, I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that the products I work on go out into the world and enable people to help others and make their lives better. As an engineer, it is more common that the fruits of your labor just feed into the bottom line of some huge company but I am happy to have found much more here at Balanced Body.

What do you like to do in your spare time :
Most of my spare time is spent playing soccer or baseball with my boys (6 and 7) in the front yard. We have a great time and it gets us outdoors running around! I do also enjoy woodworking and photography when I can squeeze it in.

Pilates Experience:
The desire to design things that people touch, interact with, and benefit people is what initially brought me to Balanced Body and Pilates. Before I worked here I had never done any Pilates myself. But since starting here, I have taken Reformer, EXO Chair, and Corealign classes and continue to be happy with the improvements I have seen.

Paul Hughes

Position:
Production Manager

How long have you been at BB:
12 years

Why do you like about your job:
I enjoy the fact that we manufacture a really quality product that does good things for people.

What do you like to do in your spare time:
I try to spend as much time as possible outdoors. I'm one of those "hook and bullet" types.

Pilates Experience:
I did some Pilates when I first came to work at BB but got away from it. About a year ago I started taking classes again and it's been great. I'm more flexible and have fewer injuries, etc. This makes all my other activities easier and more enjoyable than before.
