Standing in Loops

PURPOSE
» Strengthen the adductors and core.

STARTING POSITION
Set the loops 6 to 8 inches from the floor. Stand in between the ropes and directly under the anchor. Hold both sets of ropes just above the level of the head. Place the arches of the feet into the loops, one at a time.

MOVEMENT SEQUENCE
With control, open the legs out to the side. Return to standing upright in the loops.

MAKE IT HARDER
Open the legs wider.

MAKE IT EASIER
Lower the loops so that when the foot is placed in them the toes can reach down and touch the floor to prevent the body from swaying as the feet are being set into the loops. When the toes lift off the floor the body should be suspended in the ropes.

VARIATIONS
Diagonal Swings - Open the legs on a diagonal.
Squat Sit - Bend the knees and lower into a squat.
