Education Team Spotlight: Chelsey Hallows

Please briefly introduce yourself and share your title on the BB Ed team.

My name is Chelsey, I’m 35, and I’m the Education Operations Manager.

Please explain your role. What does the Education Operations Manager do?

I supervise the Education Client Care team. I track data and metrics to ensure the department is running smoothly. I also have a hand in compliance and contracts for ATCs and Educators.

How does your typical work day unfold? What time do you start, what do you do first? Do you have any rituals to get you ‘in the zone’?

I like an early start. I usually get in around 6:45am and use the quiet time to get set up for the day – make my lists, scan through emails, etc. It helps my day run smoother.

What personality traits, skills, or talents do you think make you good at your job?

I have a background and Master’s degree in applied behavior analysis. I approach situations with a “root cause” lens. This helps me get a better understanding of what is happening, what needs to happen, and how do we get there.

Anything that most people don’t know about your job?

I am the main contact behind the Education@pilates.com email. I route those inquiries among the team and track follow-ups. I also work with Balanced Body’s HR department to create and present internal learning and development training.

What’s one thing you can’t work without? (besides coffee, internet)

Colorful pens and stickers on my to-do lists! 🙂

How do you unwind after a busy day?

I like to hang out with my husband and our pets. I also play a lot of Animal Crossing on the Nintendo Switch.

Obviously you need to sustain yourself… but besides that, what motivates you to show up to work everyday?

I really enjoy the team that I work with. We are collaborative, we support each other, and we also enjoy each others’ company.

Tell us a story of a work project you are proud of. What makes you proud of it?

I helped create and organize trackable metrics for a monthly scorecard for members of the Education Client Care team. This has been a great incentive for the team to improve overall performance. I involved the team in the development of the process, which I attribute to the success of the project.

What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve received?

I am one individual that can only do so much in a day, and that is okay.

Any office traditions you enjoy?

A few times a year, the Education Department plans a “Spirit Week”. This past year, we had one for Halloween and one for the Holidays. It’s always fun to see everyone participate.

Favorite item on your desk or bulletin board?

I have a food themed tarot deck on my desk. Whether you need a message from the cards or to figure out what’s for lunch, I’ve got you covered!

What are some hobbies you enjoy outside of work?

I love to garden. As soon as spring starts to show, I start seedlings for fruits and vegetables.

What’s your favorite book, movie, or song right now?

I listen to all sorts of music, so it’s hard to choose a favorite right now. I listen to My Chemical Romance, Chappell Roan, and everything in between.

If you weren’t in this role, what career/job/line of work would you choose?

I would probably still be working with kids in some way – as a teacher or a behavior therapist.

What are you looking forward to the most in the coming months, work or otherwise?

My husband and I are trying to buy a house! We are hoping to achieve that before the end of the year.
