Are you using the real core? The core is the most fundamental and important part of Pilates movements. However, how many people actually engage their core while doing Pilates? In this workshop, you will learn about the evaluation method to use the core correctly and the correction strategies that can be easily applied to anybody. You will then be able to feel the real Pilates movements.

Over the last number of years our clients are doing a lot more sitting in front of their computers and cell phones. Zooming, texting and social media has expanded our world but also led us to moving less…and that has led to issues like cervical strain AKA “Text Neck” and poor posture. Learn the essential strategies to reverse this condition, reduce neck discomfort and create better posture at the same time.

Afternoon Workshops

A diagnosis of breast cancer can leave a person feeling abandoned by their body. The onslaught of doctors, medical decisions, surgeries and their physical aftermath greatly impacts the body’s resiliency. The biomechanical functioning of the shoulder is one part of assisting a client on their path to restored health after breast cancer surgery. However, the mobility and pliability of the ribcage is often overlooked and of great importance to the overall healing process. Through breath and simple floor exercises we will explore how to assess shoulder girdle and ribcage mechanics and to gently create change that will leave your clients feeling a renewed sense of physical self-confidence.

For this presentation, I would first review the basic neuromuscular functions of the foot and how injuries to the lower leg and foot, and sedentary lifestyle can alter the integrity of the foot motor control, which results in foot deformity, pain and dysfunction. The second part of this section provides details of foot exercises utilizing BB foot work tools and the reformer. I would have two assistants helping me with the demonstrations.

There are many factors that influence the position of the pelvis, not just a “weak core”. A major factor that influences pelvic position is the position of the femurs. In this workshop, you will learn to assess if the femoral head is affecting pelvic position and function, and how to change their position.
